Austrian animation director and media-artist Reinhold Bidner is working in the fields of animation, media art and games. In his Masterclass Encounters & Inbetweens, Reinhold talks about and discuss his artistic animated experiments in between various disciplines, formats and techniques. He will also present images and video excerpts. The session was moderated by Animatricks Creative Director Hämid Shajarian.

On her Masterclass “Unsung Women Heros of Animation”, the well known Animation Journalist, Nancy Denney-Phelps reflects why there is so few women in the animation industry, even though almost 65% of all animation students are female and why we all know the Fleisher Brothers and Walt Disney, but with a few exceptions, the women who blazed the animation trail are almost unknown to us. Denney-Phelps is a distinguished animation journalist and a well-known guest in many Animation Festivals. She writes an animation blog to the Animation World Network – AWN.

An old man works in a Lost property Office. Every day an old lady comes into the Office presenting an item she’s lost and everyday he tries to help her find it. With each day that passes, expectations falter, hopes fade and the feeling of loss grows stronger. After searching a series of enchanted rooms she eventually finds much more then she ever hoped for.
Live a Little is a visual poem about the anxieties and struggles of fitting in and acting in accordance with the social norms of how a young woman should behave.

Katariina Lillqvist is well known of her puppet animations. Her latest short animation Last Matador (2021) has just been released and will be seen in Animatricks 2021! In this masterclass Katariina will present her career, talk about puppet animation and about her study and work experience in Czech Republic.
The music video features Chubby Cherry and Jenny driving to a dance club. Once they are there Chubby Cherry posts “(Jenny’s Boyfriend’s) head is small.” Once this happens, Cherry tells Jenny that they should be lovers and soon they run away together. In this video, Cherry did not sing during the video except for the bridge.
