A story about fisherman, who pulled a skeleton out of the frozen lake. He tries to escape from the skeleton, so he hides in the dark, where he looks for comfort in cheap entertaintment. Yet the reality scratches on the window and fisherman´s hiding place quickly becomes a place full of nightmares. Manipulation, humanity, puppetry – the main themes of this film.

The upcoming webinar will offer a candid discussion between a director and a producer on the challenges and triumphs of creating a stop-motion musical. Featuring acclaimed director Bára Anna Stejskalová (Love Is Just a Death Away, 9 Million Colors) and Emmy Award-winning producer Jakub Košťál (Bionaut Animation, CZ), the session will dive into the intricacies of the genre, touching on topics like working with directors of photography, navigating budgets, overcoming production setbacks, and handling very tricky puppets. Bára Anna Stejskalová Czech director. Her graduation film The Fishermen (2017) was on BAFTA shortlist. Co-creator of HEARDT (Burning Man 2018). Her film Love Is Just a Death Away (2020) had US premiere at SXSW, was on BAFTA shortlist, won 2 prizes at Palm Springs festival. Currently working on 9 Million Colors. Jakub Koštál (Bionaut Animation) Member of Czech Film and Television Academy, member of International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. What will be after death? A lot of people thinking about this question. A lot of groups have very different opinion but majority of tham have one thing similar. Almost all religions are convinced that they are right. I wrote this movie, with my friend Karel Vžtrovsků, in time when we were slowly breaking out of the Christian prison in our minds, where we grew up and where we were imprisoned for a long time.

Based on the story by Branko Ćopić, this animated short tells the tale of a hedgehog living in a lush and lively forest. He is respected and envied by the other animals. However, Hedgehog’s devotion to his home annoys a quartet of insatiable beasts. Together, they march off towards Hedgehog’s home and spark a tense and prickly standoff.
