In this masterclass Éva Darabos will discuss why the block of flats areas are so important for her and will offer a glimpse into where her inspiration was coming from to create her award-winning short animation, Bye Little Block! which received the Best Design Award at The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF), and won awards in Poznań and Barcelona. She will share her personal experiences about how the whole project started and how the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest and her crew helped her to develop the original idea into a graduation film. There are many aspects to discuss: technical steps, adapting to a new role, teamwork, communication. Later, she will give a fresh and retrospective insight to her student years at MOME Anim. At the end she will share her feelings about film festivals, the afterlife of Bye Little Block! and her future plans and projects.

Aardman mainstays Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham visit BFI Southbank to talk about their work, including the new Wallace & Gromit adventure Vengeance Most Fowl. Four-time Oscar-winner Nick Park created the characters Wallace and Gromit at film school. He would go on to direct Creature Comforts, Early Man and, with Peter Lord, Chicken Run. He is a director of Aardman Animations and one the world’s leading stop-motion animators and filmmakers. The multi-talented Merlin Crossingham has worked on many of Aardman’s greatest films and is Creative Director of Wallace and Gromit at Aardman. He is also the director, with Nick Park, of the forthcoming Wallace and Gromit adventure Vengeance Most Fowl. They will discuss their careers at Aardman and share their insights into this glorious form of animation.

We are glad that we could screen an extraordinary stop-motion piece, Antipolis by Kaspar Jancis in our Masters Competition Programme at the 11th Primanima. The Estonian filmmaker's clay figures are telling the story of an incompatible conspiracy theory about the shape of planet Earth. He worked on many audible and visual details of Antipolis with artists and friends from Hungary. At the 11th of Primanima Kaspar and Mattia Sinigaglia also gifted our audience with a surprise at the Award Ceremony.
