If patience is a virtue, animation filmmakers are particularly worthy of our admiration. Follow two seasoned practitioners as they guide us through the arresting world of stopmotion animation. A cherished collaborator of Wes Anderson, Jay Clarke ("Isle of Dogs") awakens us to the power of storyboarding, namely to enable a film crew to see a story before they shoot it. A creator of fable-like creatures, Swedish director Niki Lindroth von Bahr ("Something to Remember", Generation 2020) highlights hidden aspects of this timeconsuming yet tender filmmaking technique by sharing excerpts from works in progress and placing her singing snails and other puppets centre stage. This is my final 4-week assignment for 3D Character Animation professional course in The Animation Workshop. Inspired by Jacques Tati’s „Playtime“, I decided to create a character who acts in a more subtle manner. For the second part of the film, I wanted to go all out on physical movements of the whole body to get experience in animating a character running, trying to hold balance and tackle with some object.

We interviewed Panni Gyulai, whose film *Broken Things* won the PrimAlter Jury Award at the 8th Primanima festival, while Csaba Kalotás took home the PrimaSound Special Award for the film's sound design. Panni spoke to us about the process of creating films inspired by personal experiences.

Alexandre Siqueira (Rio de Janeiro,1980) splits his life between France and Portugal. His passion for the illusion of movement began at the age of six. Alexandre was browsing through a science book on his father’s desk when he noticed a sequence of photograms depicting a boxing fight that had been used to illustrate the astonishing world of animation. Since 1999, Alexandre has directed and collaborated in several short animated films, such as Sopa Fria, Odisseia nas Imagens and Kali, the Little Vampire by Regina Pessoa. Alexandre graduated from the la Poudrière school, in France, with Journey to the Sunflowers Field, which was premiered at Animateka 2010 and selected at several festivals. Besides short films, Alexandre has already collaborated in feature films, TV animated series, directed some commissioned films and music videos and published several illustrations works.
