This graduation work is an animated film based on a short story by Mihovil Rismondo, a colleague from the Academy of Dramatic Art. The theme is bullying, with an accent on the socio-psychological aspect. Set in school days, it is a story about boys who physically demonstrate their misunderstanding of someone who is different and take this behaviour to its limit. With the idea to create an original visuality, different techniques of material preparations have been used, as well as different animation techniques. In terms of genre, the film combines drama and horror, ending in a catharsis.

This video demonstrates the most recent research achievements of the Centre for Mimoid Studies (CMS), a group from the Giesean Institute of Solaristics. According to their recently published paper, the scientists have discovered that tissue of the extraterrestrial organism (mimoid) regenerates after being exposed to the harmful effects of both ionising and non-ionising radiation. For the experiment, mimoid samples were cryogenically transported from Solaris to Earth. In a noninvasive live-cell imaging solution, the mimoid’s tissue was bombarded with the real-time customizable metamaterials and exposed to the time-varying electromagnetic fields. The researchers claimed that “mimoid samples not only behaved as tunable living systems, but they also exhibited self-organizing behaviour while mimicking patterns of the controlled electromagnetic fields.” This video was produced for the general public in order to promote the benefits of extraterrestrial studies on the Sustain Earth initiative. The research results have opened up new myriad pathways, options and possibilities for modern science and its recent Sisyphean efforts in saving us from the sixth mass extinction.

Through the thick darkness of the tunnel faint monotonous walls vibrate. In the dark distance a ray of light suddenly blinked and a moment later a strong energy burst flies rapidly in front of camera and exists the frame. We enter into abstract and utterly unknown world. Sleepy, almost frosty landscape is echoed by a tower packed with spindle black silhouette rising in front of horizon. Ritual contractions and the buckling choreography of its body invokes white deity from the other realm to perform ritual of transmutation. With a purpose of re-establishing the initial state of profound stillness ritual comes to its end.
