Human Nature
- Authors: Silvestar Mileta
- Currated by: Daniel Šuljić
Description:
While diversity in both technical and thematic approaches defines contemporary Croatian animation, certain continuities with the Zagreb School remain—especially its focus on human nature, shifting from Cold War humanism to today’s themes of alienation and fragile relationships. Although individualism has transformed from a form of resistance into a sign of disconnection, humour—often dark, satirical, and non-verbal—remains a constant.
The films in this programme also reflect major shifts in technique, from modernist hand-drawn animation to the revival of puppet film and the evolution of styles in the digital era. Together, they trace a path from classic explorations of everyday absurdity to contemporary reflections on identity and human behaviour
