Jack happens upon something truly wonderful but is too caught up within the confines of his mundane life to see it for what it is.
Poet was born in a small town. He grows up and doesn’t know what to do with his big feelings. And he decides – to go to the big city, there all are big and great – discoveries, people, feelings. He gets in Moscow, big world, but can’t be happy there. The era of great upheavals, wars and revolutions comes. The great passions storm in this world, but there’s no place for great love.
It’s my message of love to Gaza and the Palestinian people, in particular to animator Haneen Koraz, Shorouq Darwish and Nour abdel Jawad and their team of women animation artists who devote themselves tirelessly to bringing hope to the children of Gaza. My little film was inspired by the poem Hamza by the great Palestinian poet FADWA TUQAN. I chose the part of her poem that compares and connects the mystery of the fertility of the Palestinian land to the mysterious power of it’s women.
I used to be a vegetarian. Pigs used to be my friends. Now, I eat them quite a lot.
“Ce Magnifique Gâteau !” is a mid-length animated anthology film set in colonial Africa in the late 19th century. It tells the stories of 5 different characters: a troubled king, a middle-aged Pygmy working in a luxury hotel, a failed businessman on an expedition, a lost porter, and a young army deserter.
In a nameless city populated by featureless residents, which are driven by the energies both alien and insidious, revolving equinox of night and day takes place. Swaying between momentum and dullness, that never-changing cycle is represented by the neon commercials, which command every action of aforementioned residents and create their paradoxical and ouroboric reality.
