The opening intro animated for Festival BAB – Biennial of Animation Bratislava which takes place biennially in October in Bratislava, Slovakia. The local music band PARA gave us their great song Celé tie roky which I used as a sountrack for animation. All the scenography is made out of used second-hand clothes and recycled textiles.

Dust and Glitter is a simple story about two people from different environments who live next to each other but never communicate directly. Magda, a young, naive girl, astonished by the glitter of the city, yearns for friendship with Chihuahua, a small dog that embodies the posh life. Trevor is an older homeless man who has spent many years on the street, but now must fight to defend his territory against Hyena. Although they do not know it, the lives and desires of Magda and Trevor overlap in something that mirrors and indirectly affects each other.

An alarm clock wakes a man who washes his face, has breakfast, drives his car to work, spins records, returns home, and takes his pills. It’s a world of circles – often seen from above: an espresso cup, a stairwell, the pills, and the records spinning. At the dance where the music plays, the rhythms evoke images of a butcher slicing head cheese, gears driving other wheels and levers, a combine churning out bales of hay, a butcher cutting chunks of meat for a stew, and boxers punching.
