In a constant search for closeness, C experiences emotions in all their highs and lows. Even if a familiar phase of togetherness is followed by a rejection of the other person and, accordingly, a sad loneliness, C does not give up. Again and again, new ways are found to find the longed-for closeness and tenderness. And to lose.
On an everyday train journey quite unlike any other, a not-so-casual observer goes to extreme lengths to avoid other passengers, a giant baby runs away from his parents, a romantic woman starts an ill-fated relationship with a cuckoo, and a naïve boy discovers that some problems can’t be fixed by pictures of unicorns.
Harassed by the day, he runs away in the evening from people and town. He crawls into his little room to sleep. The dream is bringing him the limitless and quiet spaces of solitude. At last, he is alone and free. But the solitude engenders the fear.

Aamuhämärä is my animation for the Rhythmanalysis elective at Royal College of Art. Aamuhämärä is the Finnish word for dawn, but directly translated it means morning-dusk/-darkness/-gloom, which captures the feeling I wanted to visualize in my animation.
The film shows a new life waking up as well as the anxiety that accompanies the transformation of a female body which loses its former shape responding to the internal force affecting it. Ab Ovo is an extremely visual animation that illustrates the power of fertility lying dormant in every woman.
