Ant Hill
Synopsis:
An adolescent ant worker living in the outskirts of a dying human world who wants more from her life than accepting the given fate. However when she is cast out for accidentaly causing fire she is scared of the the outside and longs to be accepted back. She has to grow up to save the world.

A Poodle is trying to cook herself a meal when a friend calls her on the phone and wants to chat. Poodle wants to chat too, but the phoneline is too short to reach all the way to the kitchen counter. Our hero wishes she could split herself in two so she could cook and chat at the same time – and, in the end, she does exactly that.

Death of a beloved pet is hard to deal with, and even if we try to prepare for it, it often takes us by surprise. This is the story of a boy and his dog Dede, who suddenly passes away. Lost in the depths of grief, the boy eventually discovers that her death does not necessarily mean that Dede is completely gone.

An emotional pilgrimage. City mirrored in space and music. Music transformed into colors, rhythm into editing. EO DE ME is an experimental visualization of music inspired by changes in human emotions. These changes in the image of the FAMU student are also reflected in the varied range of animation techniques used.

This anidoc depicts the story and feelings of a woman who became a victim of rape and attempted murder. Her severe trauma is symbolised by a broken mirror and her futile effort to put the pieces back together. A deep probe into her mind maps the way to come to terms with this experience – at least partially.

The figure against the space. The human figure's attempt to rest is disrupted by the surrounding space, which constantly oppresses it. With each attempt to escape, it finds itself in a fight with it again. Is it even possible for it to break this cycle?

A young man is imprisoned in an abandoned lighthouse full of books. Haunted by his own conscience, he soon discovers that there is only one way out off the desert island.

Snorting, coughing, humming, clicking, … Ever present horrorful orchestra of the surrounding world drives a young lady mad. Noises coming from neighbouring flats take shape of their creators and break into the flat of the young lady, where they cause unthinkable torture. There is no hiding for our heroine and so she has to learn how to live with it.

The film, which was made as part of the 70th anniversary of the animation studio at UMPRUM, is loosely inspired by the work of three graduates: Václav Mergl, Jan Souček and Vratislav Hlavatý. Motifs from their films, illustrations and paintings have been placed in new contexts to create a new work of authorship.

Even animals can have a handicap. But then what chance do they have to survive? In Eva Matějovičová’s animated film, an animal rescuer (with many allergies) tries to find the ideal owner for each orphaned animal. After all, each of them deserves a second chance.

The Big Sister – a person of colossal size – is trapped in sand in a deserted landscape. With no way to take care of herself, this burden falls on her resentful little sister.

The hero of the short film finds himself at the base of the tower. We follow his uneasy journey upwards. At the top, he sees something that answers many questions, but raises many more. This story does not end.

The audio-visual poem tells the story of the Scottish mythological figure – the selkie – driven from the depths of the ocean to land, from which she longs to return and merge once again with the sea. The juxtaposition of simple 2D animation, a digitally generated 3D world, an ambient soundtrack, and a mysterious voice-over creates an oppressive experience with a philosophical overlay dealing with the loss of identity and the impossibility of returning to nature.
