Synopsis:
Michael Stone, a man living a dull life, is tired of his monotonous routine. However, things change when he meets a stranger on a business trip.

“Ce Magnifique Gâteau !” is a mid-length animated anthology film set in colonial Africa in the late 19th century. It tells the stories of 5 different characters: a troubled king, a middle-aged Pygmy working in a luxury hotel, a failed businessman on an expedition, a lost porter, and a young army deserter.

The film starts in Baikonur. A female dog is captured while trying to find something to feed her puppies. She is named Laika and brought to a local spaceport. Professor Voroljov and his assistant Kokotov begin preparing Laika for space travel. On the day before the launch, Laika manages to get out of her cage and visits the space rocket. Then she returns for her puppies and smuggles them into the rocket.

Over the course of these two stop-motion films, made by Karen Yasinsky in 1999, a woman—with the help of a pair of ruby-red slippers—delves into her fantasies and confronts good and evil before returning safely to the reality of her life.
