Based on the memoirs of 20-year-old Italian partisan Lino Dordoni, Fischia il Vento (The Wind Whistles) traces the events that occurred during The Battle of Monticello, Northern Italy, on April 16th, 1945, when 450 SS soldiers executed a surprise attack at dawn against roughly 25 Partisan resistance fighters located inside the castle of Monticello. Stationed in an abandoned stable nearby and suddenly awoken by the echo of the battle raging at the castle, Lino and his squad set out on a journey to aid their comrades as fast as they can.

Soon a much larger, two-legged forest-dweller encounters the lustful group and reaches down to gobble one of the small shimmering creatures. His plump friends begin to partake as well and a feast begins. While dawn is slowly breaking, a cheerful game begins higher up in the branches.

In the summer of 1988 dry lightning sparked a fire in the parched landscape of Yellowstone Park, igniting a blaze that would scorch over 1.5 million perimeter acres of the park. The fire only ceased after an intense snowstorm. That winter surviving Fauna, exhausted from fire and weakened by hunger, die in greater numbers than those claimed by the fire. But the seasons change, and life begins again. This animated short, guided by the narrative poem “Song of Fire, ” tells the story Yellowstone in ’88.
