Aamuhämärä is my animation for the Rhythmanalysis elective at Royal College of Art. Aamuhämärä is the Finnish word for dawn, but directly translated it means morning-dusk/-darkness/-gloom, which captures the feeling I wanted to visualize in my animation.
A girl attempts to reach red apples from a tree. Aliens land on Earth and the girl offers them the fruits.
A fox settles down to sleep for the day, listening to the beautiful birdsong in the forest. However a noisy duck moves in next door and won’t shut up. What does the fox have to do to get some peace?
The film narrates the adventures of an animated train.
In a kingdom tormented by fashion crazes, a queen and her court must always keep up with the new trend. If not, an abominable monster will consume them: the Ridicule. But with the arrival of a disarmingly natural cowboy, this nation of fashion victims laughs, and a simple question arises: what if the Ridicule isn’t what we think?
Two burglars discover a mysterious treasure in the pocket of a woman’s fuchsia coat. Anybody who wears the coat is given access to an infinite source of wealth. The only drawback is that they are not allowed to show the coat to anybody else. This is why the more cunning of the two crooks forces his assistant to wear the coat in disguise, so that he can spend the riches.
This film is about a family who prepare their rooftop to have their ‘iftar’ meal. Suddenly the airplanes pass overhead, and each family member wishes that an aid box would fall to them from the sky full of wonderful things. The wish comes true, and an aid box falls onto their roof. However, the entire neighbourhood surrounds their house wanting to share the box. The events unfold in a human and emotional way, reflecting the children’s dreams and hopes amidst their difficult reality.’
Nine short and unexpected stories that tell us how a person can be depicted. By mixing abstraction, collage and drawing animation, the author invites us into a spontaneous and unsystematic research of the potential of animation and leads us into the world of irrepressible imagination.
The Global Animation Community unites in solidarity with Gaza to form AC4PAL. AC4Pal was created to support the work of Haneen Koraz, an animator based in Gaza who has been running animation workshops with displaced children and women across the region. The project “To Gaza with Love: A Global Anijam” brings together 329 short films from over 50 countries, created by animators, students, and studios in a collective act of solidarity with the people of Gaza.
