Film is based on Miroslav Krleža’s The Ballads of Petrica Kerempuh, one of the capital works of Croatian literature. We are drawing parallels between ancient and modern time to emphasize that the masses were always oppressed by tyrants.
A stranded whale lies neglected and decayed on the shore of Han River. Such a strange thing, yet no one in the city cares, only birds and a dog gather around the whale. The scene reminds of the depression which has been hanging over South Korea for a while.
