Remote Life Drawings is an animated collage that visually explores the unique neighbourhood of Taipei Artist Village (TAV), situated at the heart of four distinct districts in central Taipei. Through morphing animation, I connect these districts, capturing the complex, ever-changing atmosphere surrounding the village. The abstract imagery reflects the harmony and fluidity between these areas, offering a glimpse into the dynamic and multifaceted environment of TAV.

The story is set in a graphic design world where fonts are the main characters. They have unique properties: Bold makes everything thicker, Italic tilts things, Monospace equalizes objects by width, etc. Fonts team up to build a garden, and the five boxing wizards jump in quickly to inspect their work. A negative space storm flushes everything away, but Regular comes and fixes the garden.

Clara is a self-demanding, perfectionist, nine-year-old girl. She has embarked along a path of obsessions and self-deception that will lead her to fall into a bottomless pit. A journey through darkness on which she’ll lose everything and the people close to her, in particular her parents, full of doubt and questions, will be the beacon to show her the way out of the tunnel. Will she manage to do it?

Over the years French collector Thomas Sauvin built an archive of more than half a million 35mm negatives, depicting the capital and the life of her inhabitants over the last thirty years. We follow the story of five immigrants in Budapest, two of whom still live here as refugees. We touch upon various levels of their life – from the banal to the serious. In economic theory, “random walk” means that stock market prices cannot be predicted. Each time, the price has a fifty-fifty chance of closing higher or lower than the previous day. It means that we don’t know how – or where the life of these people going further.
