The story takes place in an unnamed American metropolis of the 1960s, where a criminal gang led by Prehlađeni Joe (Runny Nose Joe) carries out various criminal acts, but is thwarted by police inspector Maska, using various disguises to track them and catch them in the end.

Film is based on Miroslav Krleža’s The Ballads of Petrica Kerempuh, one of the capital works of Croatian literature. We are drawing parallels between ancient and modern time to emphasize that the masses were always oppressed by tyrants.

The big man begins to sink into his own suit and descend to the ground. A mass of little men gushes from everywhere like a torrent. Finally, the last ones come out and disperse in all directions. There was only one large suit left on the ground.
